No kidding... do you know where????
In January of 2007 in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia (USA) a 17 year old boy was convicted of having consensual sex with a 15 year old girl and was sentenced to a minimum of 10 years. You heard it right - a minimum of 10 years with hardened criminals for consensual sex with a girl only 2 years younger then he was. More specifically, he was convicted of an old outdated Georgia criminal statute outlawing oral sex and sodomy with one of the people being less than 16. Had they had intercourse he would have been charged with a misdemeanor. Since it was oral sex, 10 years mandatory!
Where do we start to show how many things are wrong with this?
First, before the reader might start wondering, the Raelian Movement has never and will never support pedophilia. One can see some of the Raelians’ efforts around the world to protect children from this crime.
www.nopedo.org The Raelian Movement through it’s attorneys even filed an Urgent Petition (a sort of legal suit) with the Special Rapporteur of the U.N. to ending the Vatican’s ability to cover up of the tens of thousands of reported pedophilia in the Catholic Church. It has gone unanswered even though we have asked repeatedly for a reply.
But two teens having consensual sex is not pedophilia. It is completely natural. The proof that it is natural is that teens have enormous amounts of hormones running through their bodies which are pushing them to have sex! What is not natural is to suppress this natural urge. You can read more about this in the article on this site called “The Science of Pleasure”.
“Morality laws” in the USA are based upon Old Testament writings - the same book that teaches revenge, condones slavery and demands that adulterers be stoned to death. In different parts of the world moral codes vary according to which “holy book” that culture goes by. In the case of the USA, if we follow every letter of this moral law then about 75% of the US population should be stoned to death for adultery. (remember, it was taught by the earliest Christian church that a priest could marry two people but it was forever. No divorce. Ever.) Oh yeah, and anyone who touches the skin of a pig, too, so we should stone to death anyone who has ever touched a football. So applying this, all little boys (and girls) who touched a football should be killed according to that old law. There goes there rest of the population! So why doesn’t society as a whole follow all of these old laws to the letter? Because society has slowly, century after century, realized that it is wrong – that slavery is wrong, that touching the skin of a pig should not be punishable, and gradually that adultery laws, intercourse laws, sodomy laws, homosexual laws etc do not make sense either because they do not respect human rights.
In the Messages given to the Prophet Rael in 1973 and 1975, the Elohim suggest that parents educate children in a complete and well rounded way. Parents should teach children to deeply respect others, to encourage children to think for themselves, to live taking responsibility for their actions, and to openly teach their children about sex - and that it is for pleasure even before procreation.
When the Elohim created all life on Earth, what better way to ensure humanity would procreate than by making sex so pleasurable? On the other hand, those who believe in a god believe that this god made it pleasurable yet tells us not to have sex for pleasure? What a cruel god. To Raelians as well a millions of others (maybe you?) this just does not make sense.
It is thanks to liberal minded people, never the conservatives, that the person reading this was not killed for any of these acts or many others brought about due to intolerance. It has always been those who question society which bring it more freedom - as well as more tolerance.
This is precisely the aim of the Raelian Movement – to push society, to force open discussion about human rights and to help society move into a golden age in which humanity is free from the chains of fear and guilt – free from intolerance of others’ views, others’ choices, others’ beliefs as long as those beliefs are indeed tolerant of everyone else’s beliefs. We should never become so tolerant that we tolerate intolerance.
